Fundamentally believe that a Business-IT Convergence is the most effective way to create a tech-enabled business, but it also introduces some challenges. Innovation is the key to success; the Theory of Disruptive Innovation tells us that we must have an Enabling Technology, an Innovative Business Model, and a Coherent Value Network. Technology will come and go, one’s portfolio of business models will change over time, and well, our hope is that The Value Network is your coherent Center for Enablement of choice. For completeness, nothing “wrong” with Efficiency Innovation, it just simply is not designed to deliver exponential growth.

 

Seeing the world through its connectedness is just the beginning of identifying the networks that are all around us; the new imperative is not only leveraging them to our human advantage but doing so in a meaningful way, one that augments AI with human intelligence to drive new ways of working. Everything everywhere all at once is an appropriate theme for the Exponential Age; at the very least, ‘never the same again’ will be a common underpinning as we collectively navigate the complexities of the journey.

 

At our core, The Value Network subscribes to the idea that there are value producers (supply) and value consumers (demand). Highly skilled, AI-enabled producers desire agency and the freedom to do the work they enjoy, thus removing the drudgery from knowledge work; while the consumers – particularly executives – carry the burden of building an Exponential Organization (ExO) to propel their company into the Exponential Age. In other words, the producers and consumers need each other; the challenge is coming together in a meaningful enough way that digital business outcomes are not negatively impacted by bureaucracy and legacy ways of working – which applies to both internal and external value producers.

 

With this magnitude of change, one will ultimately need to successfully navigate the Post-Knowledge Work Era, our holistic approach is centered around leveraging the informal network within every organization and focusing on the integration of Mind, Body, & Spirit, emphasizing that true wellness depends on the interconnectedness and balance of mental, physical, and spiritual health of all value network participants.

Simply stated, transformation is hard, really hard, especially when it is truly a metamorphosis, like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. Given the high failure rate associated with any transformation, not only should organizations be treated as a living organism within what is known as a Complex Adaptive System (CAS), but they also need to be exponential in disposition.
